You need:
3 tbsp olive oil
5 whole cloves
5 whole cardamom
10 black peppercorns
1 inch cinnamon stick
1 bay leaf
2 onions, chopped
6 plum tomatoes, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tbsp ginger, chopped
1 tsp paprika/cayenne/Cajun pepper/chilli powder
1 can drained red kidney beans
fresh coriander
salt & pepper
What you do:
1. Heat the oil in a large sauce pan (medium heat). Put in the cloves,
cardamom, peppercorns, cinnamon stick, and bay leaf and cook for about
a minute.
2. Add the onion, saute until soft. Add tomatoes and cook well. It's
okay if it dries a bit.
3. Add garlic and ginger and cook for about 3 mins. Add the chilli
powder. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Add water slowly until the gravy is in the consistency you like.
5. Garnish with coriander.
